I'm not going to lie, today is a pretty sloooow morning. It probably has something to do with the fact that Paul was bartending last night—he's helping out a friend—and so a bunch of us spent our Sunday evening watching the ESPYs and drinking beers at our local pub. My agenda today was to FINALLY pick a location for our upcoming August vacay, but yet I'm sitting on my couch like a pile of doo. It's not helping that Paco is either exceptionally gassy or he's somehow managed to crack open a warm Heineken. Either way, the stench is horrific.
So let's recap. Did any of you watch the ESPYs? Well, even if you can't stand sports, you should try to catch a replay, if only to see Justin Timberlake in action. And for some really amazing moments, like when...
- Kevin Everett, the Bills tight end who was nearly paralyzed last season, walked out onto the stage.
- John Carlos and Tommie Smith received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for standing up for civil rights at the 1968 Olympics.
- Eli Manning and David Tyree of the New York GIANTS accepted the award for Best Play of the Year.
I mean, what's a girl to do?! My fave people are taking sabbaticals, it's hotter than balls in NYC, and I have a conference call at 3pm that prevents me from taking off for the beach all day! I know, I know... cry me a river, Bee.
If I were my sister-in-law Ria, I could run a triathlon between now and said conf call. Yesterday, she and about 2,999 other overachievers completed the NYC Triathlon. Which means she SWAM IN THE HUDSON RIVER, people. And she was really good! Came in at 3 hours and 12 minutes. Soy un búfalo gordo.
Not my sister-in-law. Found it on the NYC Triathlon website though. Not sure why.
On Saturday, good friends Beth and Adam got married at the Tribeca Rooftop. It was over 95° in the sun, but we brought in a fan so that I could achieve the just-right windblown effect of a Whitesnake video. I think it also blew off my upper lip.

Thought it was funny that there appeared to be a small patch of wheat growing out of the concrete on top of the roof.

No?
Well, that's all I've got. Perhaps after I leave the house, work out, and have my Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte, I'll have a bit more to bring to the table. For now, enjoy these super fab homes. Peace.

the Espy's were awesome! I actually JT was really darn good...and he annoys the bajeezus out of me. i was crying when Kevin Everett walked on stage. what a moving tribute and unbelievable story. plus, he's from port aurthur! what, what!
can we talk about how Tom Cruise and Christian Slater were tapped to the voice overs for the Everett story and the Carlos/Smith story? Weird.
Now for the important things: Danica Patrick's hair was seriously fug, Sophia Bush is so gorgeous and David Beckham sounds like he is perpetually on helium. Not sexy.
just fabulously special entry!
I love the whitesnack video image:) hahaha....I can totally picture this! Don't worry, Chicago is just starting to cool off now - it should reach you in a few:) Ahhhh....relief.
Great homes you found there. Hope it cools down. Love the wheat too.
your post made me laugh :) sounds like you had a great weekend! i admire anyone who can run a marathon or anything else of that nature...i sure would love to say i've done one myself but it will never happen...30 mins. on the treadmill is as crazy as i get.
I'm hooked on all the fab prefab houses! Speaking of fab, you look it....love the dress and the bag.
Haha- great first photo there Bee! Sounds like a fun weekend was had by all. You sister sounds like a real trooper :) No way could I do any kind of running!
PS- you look fantastic!
I *heart* you: So true about Danica. Her hair looked like someone curled it, parted it down the back, and teased it out the sides. Poor thing. She's normally so cute, too.
Oh, and thanks Jae & Krissy :)
Sounds like a pretty good morning so far. Wish I could join you on the beach - I think we would have lots to dish!
it's so face-meltingly hot here in florida, too -- yuck! hope you got some relief and enjoyed your vanilla latte. yum!
We watched the Espys, but at a bar with the sound turned off.
You look too cute at the wedding. I love your dress! I'm doing the cleanse IMMEDIATELY!
No...I don't like sports. Unless you count tether ball or fashion week as a sport? Or pie eating contests?
JT? Once I saw him on SNL I was hooked! Who knew that the Beefy would love the JT? I wonder if the end is near? Hmmm? I should make a bundt cake for Jesus...just in case. You think He'd like lemon?
No sabbatical...I'm back.
The yellow underwear shot? Love it. He looks so...casual. Like, "This ole thing?"
Um...is that you and Paul, Bee? At the wedding? OMG...we're not worthy! Dammit! I don't know whether to binge or purge?!! Hope the dress is okay? You know...after being thrown out onto the street in it? I know, I know...it was a reception...you thought it would be fun. But straddling the hood of the car just to up the "Whitesnake" factor just doesn't go down well at a wedding. In NYC anyway. Paul said he's not mad at you anymore though. Now Beth...she still needs some time. ;)
Seriously, you & Paul look AMAZING!
I love those tiny vacay houses. The second one is my fave? Couldn't you just imagine us making a lovely tomato gelatin salad for the boys? "Hey guys?! When you come back up from the lake would you mind running down to the store? Bee and I are out of Tab!"
just discovered your blog! it's great! we have bees in common.
You're back, Beefy! Yay!
THANK GOD. Total withdrawal.
And thank you, Dianna and Mary:)
sending applause to your sister-in-law - the idea of swimming in the hudson river down here would make me run in the opposite direction.
you guys look great - love your ks bag. we're terrible about planning vacations that involve getting on planes. maybe we'll just copy you when you decide?
um you look like a skinny pencil in that photo. eat a bagel tomorrow morning for me. and, so pretty, like normal.
can't wait to see you tomorrow and tell you how i scared off my first boy. he thinks i'm crazy for sure and is telling everyone in our industry. call me miss crazy from now on.
Wait. Shoot. Is this MM or MO? I'm thinking MM?! Oh noooo...! If he was scared off than he's an idiot. We will rehash over cocktails.
you guessed right!
You're a vision in navy!
Soy un burro perezoso tambien!
Ooo, I want a modular home bad. It could look so hot in the foothills above Cape Town's city bowl. -X
that modular home would be perfect anywhere....The last picture is super fun...
i am totally digging those houses ")
