Readers, bloggers, friends: Thank you all for your sweet comments about my new abode. Now that we’re moved in, I’m faced with the fantastic yet monumental task of decorating my house. And all I keep asking myself is, WHERE DO I BEGIN?!
So I'm turning to you. And Domino The Book of Decorating.
Each week I’m going to break down the book, section by section, until I’ve taken this place from bright-hued-and-bare to cozy-and-fabulous. According to Domino, this all starts with establishing my decorating style, which I’ve decided is Neutral Bohemian with a touch of Glam.
Does that even make sense? Is it too many aesthetics? The décor equivalent of an El Camino with pink suede interior?
See? I need help.
Next week, I'll touch base with some inspiration I've gathered for the task at hand, as the book suggests. You know, tear sheets, photos, a Balenciaga dress or two. If I think of this task as furnishing a giant walk-in closet, it should be loads of fun!

recent post and
shopping guide on it---and I love the way you describe it as 'neutral bohemian with a touch of glam'...
i think the neutral bohemian will appeal to your man and the touch of glam is for you! i've come to realize in the long 3 month period in which i've lived with my boyfriend that it's all about compromise. be sure to take tons of before and afters, love!

You're starting in the right place. My only advice for now, if you've got floors to refinish, then do 'em first!
I agree, it sounds nice! I'm not one to ask cuz I just do what I like, and I'm not always sure it is right. I actually like the sound of that El Camino, lol :)
omg. I love this. I can't wait to see what you turn out! You know Domino has this great thing online where you can make like a paperless scrap book with design ideas. I read about it every month but I have yet to try it. I know you're in westchester but let me strongly recommend (and you probably already know this) the warehouse for Macy's and Bloomingdale's (I think this one is still open) in Long Island. The Macy's one is amazing. We got a gorgeous marble table (it weighs a million pounds tho) for $100. I kid you not. Let me know if you need any art work:)
Chessa--the Deco File! I know, I've been meaning to do one. I'm going to start this weekend. Made by Girl did one of her actual house and it is awesome.
Let me know how it works out for you! I've been meaning to try it. I have a huge folder of ideas at home and they are all mostly from Domino and Elle Home. I'm constantly looking for ways to change my apt even if it's a new throw pillow cover or bedspread. Sometimes you just need something a little different. Incidentally, I'm in the market for a new couch too! Our black couch is a relic of Doug's bachelor days...7 years ago! It's so comfy but ugh...total eye sore (for me...he loves it)!

Perhaps you should print out that el camino and tape it up somewhere fro inspiration. It is inspiring me right now. Love your new house, congrats on the new digs!
the Domino book is great isn't it? the only thing wrong with it is that it has TOO many wonderful ideas--i couldn't pick one, even if i had the luxury of decorating my rental space.
but, it's a great place to start.
i finally got around (as i have some extra free time this weekend) to visiting your blog. i have been meaning to for a while, as i see you everywhere in blog rolls or comments.
