The bird and the bee.

With 14 weeks to go until my due date, I've been reflecting on my own childhood and the various ways in which I tortured my mother.

There were the times when I'd hide inside store clothing racks while she tried to shop. I wouldn't come out, even when she and the store manager turned off the lights and were "leaving for the night, bye-BYE!" No. I'd stay huddled inside, giggling, scheming, torturing.

There were the times when I'd rig every single button and switch in her car so that, when she turned it on, the radio would be blasting, the wipers would whip back and forth furiously, and my mom would go bananas.

And, speaking of bananas, there were the many, many times when I'd cover my mom's soft leather purse with Chiquita banana stickers, some spilling onto her work clothes, a veritable "Kick me, I'm a mom" Post-it for all of Shop Rite to see.

I did all of this to her, my wonderful, loving, intelligent mother, and I expect to walk away unscathed? Please. Payback's a bitch and I am fully anticipating a Queen Bee Part II... in approximately 14 weeks.

And here is my proof:

Yup, there it is. Our little girl. Giving us the bird.

Thank you darling, that put a smile on my face. Funny how when you sit to think about all of the stuff you did as a kid and you just know paybacks are a bitch.

I was horrible as a teenager and I have boys, so I often wonder the what's, when's and how's of my payback.

I'm laughing so hard right now:)
My sister and I tortured both of my parents but my dad seemed to take it much better than my mother. we drove her crazy. she hates it when any kitchen cabinets and drawers are left open...so just when she would get home we'd open them all up. we also hid inside the clothing racks. so much...my sister and I tag teamed her all the time. she laughs about it now since I guess it wasn't as bad as we thought it was and my sister has her little girl who is definitely going to be a handful:)

Amazing scan photos! Oh gosh I am giggling about you hiding from your mum. I wish I'd been a little naughtier, my mum still tells me off now and I'm 36!!

In the name of karma (and only if you have time) I have sent you a tag :-)

That's really funny! I used to hide myself in clothing racks too, another spot was at the grocery store under the bakery tables - they were fairly high tables with gaps between them that were like tunnels.

aw, Bee!! this post was so funny, and moving.

oh, my gosh. i did the same hiding-in-the-clothing-rounds thing. this is hilarious. it's amazing what mothers put up with, no? i'm still amazed at my own mother. . . .

It's interesting how girls will be the first to admit fierce love and devotion to mom, yet we give those ladies hell when we're young. I apparently used to criticize my mother's clothes when I was a teenager ("you're wearing THAT today?"). I have no recollection of this - but I'll take her word for it. I'll also thank her for not making any retorts regarding my own choice of white tights with jeans skirts.

Hilarious Bee! I thought I was such a mini rebel when at five or so I would hide in the clothing racks. Now to find out that just about everyone pulled that bratty stunt makes me laugh endlessly!

I always say to my husband that our future kids better not be as cheeky as I was growing up! I did the hiding amongst racks of clothing too lol Can't tell you how many times I'd been to the info counter to have them announce I'd 'lost' my mother haha!

Bless your heart-that is hilarious! I don't think I've laughed so hard all day. But if it's any consolation, I was a terror, too, and so far, eldest is good as gold. But then...my mother did "curse" me with seven more children like me.

Hmmm...

So funny about the Chiquita stickers...I love to plaster my mom's sink full of fruit stickers when I go home. It's my signature.

She's so beautiful. Positive thoughts, loads, so the baby feels them.

Hope all is well, I heard fresh/dried dates are really good during pregnancy, vitamins, etc.

Oh, you know, it's kind of cute. ;-)

Yes, I too expect to have a really difficult kid. One who argues all the time, talks waaaaay too much, and one who's super moody. Ugh. Maybe I'll get lucky and we'll have a boy and he'll be perfect??

I remember when I first read this way back when. It is amazing to see her on her sonogram photo and then see her in person. I can't wait! I think our gal is going to be just as stubborn...she and D-Dubs can be pals. She doesn't like to be disturbed in there and she definitely does not like it when the technician tries to nudge her to move so we can all get a better look...she gos right back to where she wanted. lol...last time they tried for so long to get her to move that we all just gave up and they gave me an appointment to go back....of course she didn't stop moving the entire time! :) oh...girls...
