Ever since we moved, I find myself missing the city in a way I didn't quite expect. I adore
our new home beyond words, but the city—the entire dirty, gritty, beautiful, gridlocked, uninhibited city—just
feels like home in a way that my new town does not. It comforts me.
Every time I return, I find myself trying desperately to soak it all in and fill up on what I've missed.
These were all snapped from the car (Pablo was driving). Click to enlarge the third one down...gave me a giggle!

Ah, I know how it feels! It's great you live so close, so you can go back whenever you feel like it :) Your pictures are so great... so funny, and so NYC!
This is what I miss the most about New York City. You can't find scenes like this anywhere else. :)
It's such a 'catch 22' - I love the grit and energy of the city, but I adore the clean, freshness of the country! One day, maybe both of these worlds will collide and I can have a place in each! Ahhh...the beauty of daydreaming!
Lord, I miss New York.
i know exactly what you mean...i consider NYC home when i'm away from it too...great shots! :o)
these are SO great!...the first shot reminds me of saul leiter's taxi.
"When you leave New York, you are astonished at how clean the rest of the world is. Clean is not enough."

OMG, Paul, that is SUCH an amazing complement! And absolutely perfect quote. Thank you:) xoxo
LOVE these shots. and especially love that you snapped them from the car!
New York has a way of casting it's spell on you :)
aww. i LOVE new york and am itching to get out of florida in august (for the first time in a year--eek) and visit the city. great photos. :)
I'm thinking you need to turn that third photo into your baby announcements, LOL! Hilarious.
This is exactly how I feel about Portland, Oregon. That city is my "happy place". I haven't been back in 3 years and my heart is aching.
Court: I love it!!
I love New York, any season or anytime!

I FEEL THE SAME WAY! That is where I grew up & I was just talking about that same thing with my guy. I told him I was getting that depressed feeling where I was missing my city and family....it's hard to explain, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

What fabulous shots. I still long for DC and I've been gone 6 years. Cities like that and NYC get in your heart and stay there.
Neato car. It matches the johns.
This is why I NEVER want to leave. I am destined to one day become that nosey old lady who sits on her stoop all day long who knows everybodys business...If I'm lucky:)
during my one trip to nyc (yes, i know, que horible!), i think i hit up that ice cream shop. go figure i would be able to track down where to get the best dessert!
Love all these shots of the city... so smart to soak it all in...
I've lived in cities all my life, then I married a man who lives in a small town. Needless to say I'm going stir crazy. Good thing I love the fella hehe :) I'll be in the City next week... I'll say hi for you!
Laughing so hard right now! And, Courtney, that's perfect! Seriously, these are really, really great photos, Lil Bee. Ahhh, nostalgia...
I'm about 40 minutes away from manhattan....and I still miss it when I'm not there!!!
I've been in NY only twice (it's quite the trip from Norway). But I still miss it! If you grew up there or have lived there for a long time, I can imagine you miss it a lot more.
Enlarged the third photo and giggled!
