How was your holiday?

Small town, USA.
On Fourth of July Paul took me to Cold Spring, NY to see the fireworks. This little town was celebrating the 400th anniversary of its fire department, so there was a festival with lots of food and live music. We wished we had more time to explore, but a) my right foot is sort of broken (don't ask), and b) finding a spot of grass to watch the fireworks was our top priority.
So, we'll definitely be back this summer to go antiquing, eat more homemade ice cream and have a picnic along the waterfront. Here are some photos from the day...

Yes all the Hudson River towns were celebrating including Newburgh :) I hoped you enjoyed your trip upstate!
looks like a perfect day. minus the grumpy foot of course--hope it's feeling better!

Sounds like the perfect hometown celebration...and the photos are spectacular! Love the old wooden barn/house?!? Very cool!
I used to live in Garrison just down the road a bit. Would go to Cold Spring often for a little browse and bite to eat. Sure is purty up there.
Bee, say it ain't so! Broken foot? Ack! But glad to hear the holiday weekend was fun. Despite being far away from all the patriotism, I had a great weekend at the beach. Heal soon!
i'm sorry about your foot, but i do love that quaint town.
The city life certainly has it's perks but there's nothing like spending time in/living in a small town. I dunno, everything feels more real to me, like the experience is more real vs the hustle and bustle. Although I'm still a city girl at heart :)
And can't ask?!? How can you tease like that? ;) Hope your tootsie is better chica and not really broken, my goodness!
Your pictures are fun! 400 is pretty old. That's 1609 people! I love that about the East - colonial history. It would have taken you three days by horse to get there back then! I hope your foot heals quickly, Lil Bee.
What a cute little town! I'm a born and raised city girl so I love getting out of the mix and soaking up new places, no matter how rural they may be.
i'm gonna do it... what's up with your foot?! (yes, i'm an admitted smartass)

Here's the thing...I have no idea how I did it but I have a stress fracture in my right foot! At least this is what my doctor-friend diagnosed me with. I have to see my doc to confirm and then I'll probably need one of those sexy boots. You know, the big blue velcro kind? Yeah.
For now, though, (and this is like four weeks and running), I just hobble.
you know I had a fracture to my left foot with plaster and I had to stay 15 days on bed without put my foot on the ground and the other 15 I could walk helped by crutch... then I did swim for months and I get back to the gym after a while...
I wish you to get well soon and don't be depressed!
That looks like such fun! We spent the weekend on home projects. I'm spent!
What town, those are the best kind!
We went to a little tiny mountain town with a lake to watch fireworks. It was fun!
Love your pictures!
Wow love the pictures. It looks like you had a lot of fun. I want to go now!
Sounds like an awesome time, we had a bbq and did the simple fireworks thing- but I kinda missed the big ones!
Your photo of the dogs-the one that link to your animal rescue-is hilarious!!
looks like you had fun!
Oh, fantastic!
We were at The Red Square:)
Looks absolutely idyllic! Thanks for sharing.
This look like such fun!!!! I could watch fireworks every day and never get tired of them. Love small towns.
Looks like a ton of fun! :)
love love love!!! glad you guys had a great time...love the photos.
Nothing better than a small town parade! We marched in ours this year. In a kazoo band. So yeah; we had a great day. :-)
I'm from a small town, and this is how most of my childhood was spent. It's nice, but sometimes big city fireworks are impressive.
oh, way cool fireworks shots!
