My travel secret + a blogette* brunch

Over the weekend I met up with my friend Emily of Cupcakes & Cashmere and a *glowing!* Joanna for a mid-morning meal at 'ino. Em was in town from LA for a few days, and so we got to chatting about the luxuries of staying in a nice hotel... a freshly made bed, a piping hot bath, and delicious room service.

It's been a while since Pablo and I took a trip, but that doesn't stop me from daydreaming about future destinations. So I thought I'd let you in on my travel trick...

Whenever I'm planning a getaway, I visit Tablet Hotels and do a search based on destination, landscape, and agenda (such as South America/Beach/Spa). If the hotel is too pricey (which it often is), I then cross-reference the location on tripadvisor.com to find mid-range accommodations in the surrounding area. It's a great way to find an affordable hotel in a luxury destination, plus you can still hit up the 5-star spots for special treats like cocktails or a spa visit.

Next on my list are Honduras, Nicaragua, Greece, Turkey, and the French West Indies, where I found the picturesque Francois Plantation.
Oui, oui, mon joli!

*Blogette = a fellow blogger on whom you have a bloggy crush. I mentioned before. But don't worry—I'm not trying to make 'fetch' happen or anything. Do you have a blogette? How 'bout a baguette?

Update! Update! Update! My goodness...how could I forget? One of the neatest things of all about our brunch was being spotted by fellow blogger, Amanda, of First Milk! She waltzed in all adorable with her pixie haircut and soon came over to introduce herself, saying she recognized us from the Internet. How fun is that? It definitely made our brunch a bit sweeter. Amanda—it was a pleasure to meet you, too!

I left my heart in Turkey.

Well, not really, because I haven't actually been there. Yet.

Blogettes? Too many to recount here.

I miss travel... And I've been thinking about it a lot as I convert negtives from my honeymoon in Spain into digital pictures (all done with a nifty gadget I got at Costco for very little money). We got married in 2000 and had of yet to invest in a fancy new digital camera. In fact - I think we took 90% of our honeymoon pics with the left over throw away cameras from our wedding. Awesome. But not in a good photo quality kind of way... Even tint/saturation adjustments have their limits.
