Flying high

Last night on The Bachelor,* Jake and Vienna bungee jumped off a bridge. It was both of their biggest fears and definitely one of mine. And though I've tried over the years to conquer my fear, somehow I always get derailed...

There was the parasailing excursion I went on with a friend in Mexico. Just as we were about to get hooked up to the boat, another parasailer flew straight into a flagpole on the beach. I took that as a sign.

And there was the skydiving expedition that my guy friends bought me for my 24th birthday. As we were getting ready to drive out to the plane, it started pouring rain and the dive was canceled.

Since I don't think I'd ever willingly fall from the sky now that I am a mother, I might just hold onto my fear of heights for a lifetime. I can live with that.

How about you? What are your biggest fears?

And on a totally unrelated note, my little app was on CNBC's Planet of the Apps! The development company I worked with to produce Feather Report was interviewed, and so they talked about it along with a bunch of other apps they've created. Take a peek (and jump to 6:47 if you're as impatient as I am!):

*Yes. In addition to Jersey Shore, Rock of Love, and The City, I now watch The Bachelor. I may be afraid of heights, but I'm not above stooping to record lows.

I bungee jumped once... and I never ever need to do it again. I am also getting very claustrophobic as I get older.

bungee jumping and parasailing are on my top things I've done for fun. skydiving would be amazing, but the older I get, the more afraid of heights I get... not sure if I'll ever do it. interesting that people change as they get older.

YAY...that was so exciting when they mentioned the feather app. and as much as i constantly wonder about what kind of tree i'm standing next to, i think your app has a bit more staying power than tree id.

CONGRATS!!

And my fear: lizards. I know, they are wonderful and friendly and eat mosquitos and blah, blah, blah. But those suckers give me the willies like you wouldn't believe!

i watched that on the bachelor, and was it just me or did it look like they almost swung into the rock? and couldn't they have easily died?! it looked terrifying to me.. i used to want to sky dive, but now i'm very happy with both feet on the ground! (although parasailing is SO fun and not very scary, i've done it twice!) xoxo

I have so many fears it would take DAYS to list. I discovered my fear of heights in the middle of a trapeze class, LOL. Talk about bad timing...

I'm terrified of heights too. I would never bungee jump, ever, but jumping out of a plane I think I could do. Is it crazy jumping out of a plane seems safer? Haha.

I have zero desire to bungee jump or sky dive. I'm not afraid of heights so much... well maybe a little healthy fear... but I just don't see the need to do either. Thank you very much. I AM afraid of snakes.

A bachelor watcher I am too this season...it's addictive and horrible and amazing all at the same time! I thought the jump was brave...taking someone there on that date, I could've imagined all the other girls shaking, Vienna kept cool. The kiss was certainly cool.
I gab about Jake every Tuesday on my own blog, it's awful but sooo good.

my parents let me watch "The Birds" when I was 6. Can you believe that???? (you're too young to remember that movie) so now I'm scared to death of being attacked by "the birds". I stay clear of black birds. Oh, you so funny gurl.

I'm terrified of heights. I wouldn't have even made it up in that plane and haven't tried to go parasailing yet because I'm so terrified! Other than that, I'm afraid of cats, kind of. Embarrassing, I know, but they can be all cuddly and cute and then turn on you and scratch you in a second!

p.s. Birds also freak me out (re: to the comment above)

Oh you're so fabulously famous with the Feathery Thing!.... total excitement! I bungey jumped in New Zealand when I was 24, 19 years ago. I have video footage of my pathetic screams and exclamations of my relief at being alive at the end of it all. I will NEVER do it again. A-M xx

It seems like all the "signs" are telling you not to conquer your fear!! I am afraid of a lot of things, some seem so petty, like bugs. I would definitely be afraid to bungee jump or go sky diving, even though it would probably be the most exhilerating feeling!

first of all! congratulations on the feature! that's so exciting!! :)

I bungeed once but it wasn't off a cliff or anything. it was at Six Flags the summer after I graduated from high school. It was awesome but I don't know if I'd do it again. I'm not afraid of heights...I'm afraid of the dark. I can't deal with it...I freak out even going to the bathroom at night in the dark. Unless I'm in my bed already or a movie theater or something, I hate that minute after the lights are out when your eyes haven't adjusted yet.

very cool that your App (which I love!) was on CNBC! I work at a financial advising firm so we have CNBC on above our heads ALL DAY LONG--But those specials only run in the evenings! No wonder I'm addicted to The Bachelor, must. counteract. financial. news.! Congrats!

i really enjoyed your interview! you've created such an amazing thing but you are so down to earth about it! i love your fashion philosophies. (and i thought it was a beautiful photo!).

also, this is the first season i've watched the bachelor, and i must say that i am embarrassingly into it.

Olivia, thank you so much! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments...it was a lot of fun to see Feather Report on TV!

(And the best part is I didn't even KNOW it was featured until my friend Mauria called and told me!)
