When I stumbled upon the dessert section, I realized I had to share it with you. There's a banana toffee panini, which is described as a mini caramel ice cream sundae; a lemon meringue tart with buttermilk sherbet and fresh berries; and an orange creamsicle pot de creme, which consists of warm doughnuts and blackberry tarragon jam. I mean...
I'll take 75, please.
PS: If you know Miami, I'd love to hear your suggestions—I'm hoping to find an authentic Cuban restaurant that isn't insanely expensive!

have you ever seen the show "the best thing i ever ate?" well if so, this place is all over it. perhaps i'll meet you there for dessert!
are you kidding?? make that 75 x 2! delish!

Larios On The Beach has awesome Cuban food and is very moderately priced especially for being right on Ocean Dr. You should definitely walk around Lincoln Rd for some shopping and Espanola Way for some cute bars. Have fun!
Umm. I just drooled all over my keyboard.
wow, now that my mouth is watering...
great cuban in coconut grove..
I love that you have already studied the menu and know what you are ordering, it makes me feel better as I do the same thing! :) You are going to have a fantastic time!
As for a Cuban restaurant, my girlfriend who lives in Miami really loves Molina's Ranch.
i am not ashamed to admit that i study the menu EVERY time i go out to eat. usually even if i have been there numerous times before. i need ample time to
A. savor the deliciousness of the options
B. have time to actually decide
lets just say most of my waking (and sleeping) hours are spent thinking about food...
good lord i need this today!
Michael's is one of my favorite spots in town. You must try Michy's as well. It's Michelle Bernstein's restaurant and it is amazing!
For cuban, I have to go with Sergio's on coral way. Authentic and really cheap. The croquettas are to die for!
Holy yummmm. I could definitely go for the lemon meringue tart with buttermilk sherbet and of course the fresh berries!!!!

Versailles Restaurant for cuban food (it's in little havana) is great!
Or David's Cafe on South Beach (get a cuban sandwich and cuban coffee)... amazing!
my winters are spent in Miami and my husband is cuban :)
ohmygoodness look at that delicious sugary goodness. i NEED to stuff my face with one of those!!
Bienvenidos a miami
My hubby's Cuban too...We go to Miami often. Try La Carrera...

I WANT those donuts. Now.
omg that looks so good!
I always stalk restaurant menus before I go. My sis and I have been known to email back and forth about menus.
It's a sickness. Can't wait to hear about the doughnuts!
Between yours and Emily's blogs this morning, I think i just gained 5 pounds. No, seriously.
I haven't been to Miami since spring break '03....WOOHOO, but my brother lived there for a few years recently, so I'll get the scoop on the restaurants. Also, Jenn from Bits of Beauty might be a great resource.
I agree with Raquel, Larios is the way to go for good cuban food (and mojitos!) without breaking the bank! xo
Thank you guys, so much! We are going to EAT our way through Miami, thanks to you!!
I think I just short circuited my keyboard from all the drool! YUM!
I wish I knew more about Miami all I know is that I always wanted to cruise Deco Drive and I lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 6 months, dated a guy from there for 6 years and never once made it to Deco. I have been to the Miami Convention Center, and to the old Miami Dolphins Stadium to see Metallica live - but that is my extent of Miami knowledge... :(
I will live vicariously through you!! ox
Versailles Restaurant -- they have THE BEST garlic soup and ceviche you will even taste!!!!!

Another Miami native wanting to chime in.
Def check out Versailles. It's authentic and delicious. Embrace the 8am humidity and the 4pm. Enjoy!
I hate to say it, but I feel like Larios lost all its appeal a few years ago. I can't believe Puerto Sagua (Collins and 11th?) hasn't been mentioned yet!! So close to Ocean Drive and all the hub-bub, so cheap, and soo authentic. Definitely my favorite.
those doughnuts look sooo good! don't forget to have an authentic cafe cubano-i hear they're amazing!
I live in the area and there's this tiny little dive cafe called the Black Bean in Hollywood which is about 15 miles north of Miami. It's fantastic cuban food (the cuban bread is to die for) and two ppl can eat and drink a few coronas for under 20 bucks. So worth the drive!
I lived in South Beach for years...if you want authentic, neighborhood Cuban food...you want David's Cafe - 1654 Meridian Avenue, South Beach...it is a block off of Lincoln Road where you also undoubtedly need to stroll as it has some of the best people watching EVER. This is where the locals go...Larios is where the tourists go.
Michael's Genuine is great, but I really LOVE brunch there. Hello, tiny pop-tarts and duck hash!
Seconding Michy's or Michelle Bernstein's other Miami joint, Sra. Martinez. Both are excellent. I had a fantastic meal at Area 31 (in the Epic Hotel, nice view) recently--def check it out if you're into fish.
