I used to walk home to my first apartment in NYC and look up at this one brownstone that had floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in a deep burgundy color. Ever since then, I was determined to have them in my home. When we met with our contractor, I talked to him about my idea and then printed out a photo from Domino that I loved...that one with the army green velvet curtain in front? My contractor suggested the beaded board in back, which I loved because it echoes the beaded board in our entryway and kitchen. And then we decided to paint it gray to give them some depth.
